CMS will retire the original Compare Tools on December 1st.
Use Medicare.gov's Care Compare to find and compare health care providers.
Care Compare offers a new design that makes it easier to find the same information that's on the original compare tools. It gives you, patients, and caregivers one user-friendly place to find cost, quality of care, service volume and other CMS qulity data to help make informed health care decisions.
Now, instead of having to search through many compare tools, with just one click on Care Compare, you'll find easy-to-understand information about nursing homes, hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers.
Care Compare can be found at https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/
Teresa Cannon, RN selected as I CARE Employee for 3rd Quarter
Pictured are Teresa Cannon, RN and Dr. Joseph Walker.
Teresa has been a nurse for 9 years, with all her service to Northwest Medical Center. She has worked on the Med-Surg Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Recovery Unit, as well as Northwest Specialty Physician's Office.
Teresa was nominated by Joseph Walker, M.D. As stated by Dr. Walker "Teresa has excellent experience and pairs it with an even better attitude and bedside manner. She never complains, helps her fellow employees, and makes our patients feel comfortable and important. My office would not run as smoothly, and our patients would not have as good of an experience if it was not for her."
Northwest Medical Center is honored to have such a special employee selected for the award.
Northwest Medical Center is proud to anounce that our new ICU facility is ready to begin serving our patients. This unit will allow us to treat mre patients locally, instead of transferring them out to another hospital. We are extremely excited about this new facility! Please enjoy the video below which gives a tour of the new facility!
The Winfield Hospital had its official opening in 1949 and since that time has been serving the primary health care needs of Marion, Fayette, Lamar, Walker and Winston Counties.
In this modern era, Northwest Medical Center has added many specialized services reaching beyond our primary service area into a regional service facility. A modern, well-equipped replacement hospital was built in 1998 and compliments the quality of our Medical Staff and patient care.

In the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea," the heroine cannot sleep because she can feel a very small lump, even though it's covered by dozens of mattresses.
In real life, we are not that lucky. By the time we can feel a lump in our own breasts, a cancerous tumor could possibly have grown larger and spread beyond the breast into other areas of our bodies.
The process for requesting a patient's medical records includes obtaining a medical release of information authorization that is signed and dated by the patient.
